Alison Beswick

Alison Beswick is a hand-building ceramicist, skilled to build large-scale pieces; she has created vessels and sculptural pieces informed by the abandoned boats of the estuary, forms also made from sheet material. Through subtle decoration of her forms has achieved a high standard of sculptural pieces. She has a natural ease in handling clay, building in a variety of scales especially large scale work, over her time studying Contemporary Applied Art she has developed a wide set of building skills allowing her to build such interesting pieces. Using rich a rich palette of colours inspired by eroding sea vessels, she has captured the decay and beauty of the estuary boats.
